I went to the school from 1995 and i really enjoyed my time there. I was in Mrs. Snowdon's class in yr 2, Mrs. Greenhowe's in yr 3 and then Mr. Luxton's in y4 and my mum works at the school still as a classroom assistant and i am in the process of building a library system for the school as part of my a level ICT project and hopefully it will be successful. The site has been very helpful to me because i have been able to use some of the images on it within my system so i would like to complement you on the site. yours sincerely H G

Wonderful website. The Former Pupils page is a particular delight to me. Jackie Swindell?s ?Memories of St Teresa?s? brought back many of my own happy memories of the school. I also am a Former Pupil and wondered if it would be possible to add some of my own recollections to your page.

Although Jackie and I were together at St Teresa?s I must admit to not being able to recall her by name alone. No doubt a photo of her would jog my memory. I spent five happy years at the school, from 1955 to 1960, after which I went to Minehead Grammar School for a year. My family then moved to Surrey.

When I was at St Teresa?s my name was Pamela Rhodes. The ?Pam? that I became known by in my teens would no doubt not have been encouraged in the formal setting of St T?s!

Many of Jackie?s memories I share, and I?d like to thank her for resurrecting details that I had long forgotten. There are additional details that I can recall, such as Miss Broom?s dog. Oh yes, and the house names: I seem to remember being a member of St Francis and wearing a blue button badge. I think there was also St George (red) and St Jerome and one other. The latter two badge colours were orange and green, but not necessarily in that order. The memory is patchy!

I was also excited to read Sara Brewer?s contribution (6th February 2006). Sara and I were in the same class for several years. I?d like to echo her question about a reunion. I have lost contact with all my friends from St Teresa?s since moving away from Minehead, but maybe your excellent website can help me to put that right. I now live in Plymouth and visit Minehead quite often. I have a great affection for your town.

Your website is A+++ and I intend to visit here regularly to find out what the school is doing now and what it did way back when.

Thank you

I was a boarder at St.Teresa's 1945-1950 and thoroughly loved life there and have happy memories. I am in touch with quite a few 'old'(literally) girls which is surprising since it is 55 years since we left. I visited your school (in about 2000) and chatted to yr2 pupils about my time in Minehead. There were many changes to lots of things but nevertheless I went home feeling quite rejuvenated (feeling younger) having seen so much of what I remember. Anyone reading this remember me ? I was renowned for my very long, thick hair and short ,fat legs the latter being unchanged.

I am almost speechless that I found this site. The power of the Web! I was a weekly boarder in the days of St. Teresa's from 1954 to 1964. Reading through the Former Pupils and Memorabilia has really brought back so many memories. How wonderful that you put this website together to include information on dear old St Teresa's. I left after "O'' levels and went to the "Art College" in Taunton before it joined up with the "Tech" and became SCAT.
In the summer of our last year some the 5th Form escaped from Friday fish lunch to rush down to the station to watch the filming of the Beatles for the film a "Hard Day's Night". We came back to the school in time for the afternoon classes and were hauled in to Mother Amee's (then then headmistress) office to be told off in no uncertain terms. Our parents were asked to come and fetch us as we were all expelled!!!! After several minutes of discussion with various parents, who were horified at her decision, we were reinstated. Just as well as it was just before the GCE exams. I am still in contact with some friends from those days but would love to know if you ever have a reunion for the "old girls"?

Wow! What a great website and a great way to keep in touch!
My name is Jemma Jeffs, I attended this school from roughly yr 1990-94.
I have the most fondest memories of Minehead First and will always be my favourite place, with the most lovliest kindest bunch of teachers!
I am now 20 years of age and currently in New Zealand! i finished college as a qualified make up artist, wigmaker and hairdresser!! I first came to New Zealand last year to travel with a fellow class mate..Mr Karl Priddle and another friend Joe Waterman...anyone remember those characters?! Well, I spent 8 months travelling the country, then tried to come home..though only lasted 6 months and back out here working as a hairdresser in Wellington!I hope to get involved in some of the many films being made here too!
I would like to send my best wishes to all of the teachers especially Mrs Owen,Mrs Handley,Mrs Snowden and of course Mr Luxton-I hope you are still recieving my christmas cards! You are all so truly special, I will always remember you and the difference you made to my life.
Thankyou again,
Jemma

Hi it's Sophie Marlow, i am in yr6 now and have just taken my SATs (how boring!)
but they were quite good bcos we got biscuits and drinks and extra break bcos the teachers thought that we neeeded a rest and a relaxing snack and a drink so we wouldn't get stressed!!! but now that they are over it's back to normal lessons without biscuits and drinks with extra break!!

I was a boarder at the school from 1965 to 1968 (nee Whalley) and have very fond memories of the school and the nuns. I remember with great fondness my wonderful drama teacher called Mrs Schofield, she was an inspiration to me and to this day I am still acting and directing, and I am sure it is all down to her encouragement. I loved boarding with the nuns and remember being most put out the year it snowed heavily and blocked the roads stopping me from returning to school for the Lent term. I remember Sister Bernadette trying to teach me cooking, in the new cookery block, and failing; my rock cakes were something else! But she would be pleased to know that I have actually made a living out of cooking in my long and varied career. I have many memories of my school years and all the good friends I made, I could ramble on forever. I stumbled upon your website by mistake and it has quite made my day. Thanks for the memories

Thank you Rebecca. If you were in Reception in 1990 the changes must have occurred between then and 1995. I'll try to find out the exact year the top playground was changed.

Hi, it's me again. I thought I'd just say I'm not totally 100% sure but I think the top playground was installed when I was at Minehead First School. You know, where the tyres were and where, on Spring Fairs, the bottle raffle was held.

Rebecca, it was nice to hear from you. It is nice to think that you have fond memories of the school. I wonder if any of your friends have found our website yet? If you think of any unusual events that happened whilst you were here do write and tell us. Can you remember any changes that were made to the school building during your time with us?

I enjoyed visiting your website very much, and especially reading Lucy's article about Minehead beach. I look forward to reading more of her interesting articles in the future!
With best wishes
Barbara Thompson (Lucy's aunt in Swindon)

p.s. I was also interested to read some of the reminiscences about St. Teresa's. I went to Minehead School in the 1960's, but my friend Jill Sizer went to St.Teresa's. Some of the names and comments bring back old memories!
(Hello Jill if you read this!)

Hi again, I thought I'd say hi to all my teachers that I had a while ago at the school. Mrs Bird, You are looking younger then ever I bet you don't remember me from reception class in 1990. Then it was Mrs Webb, I know she left though. Then came Mrs Snowdon, I was on the frog table, I don't know whether you still do that table point thing any more though, I always enjoyed it! Third year was Mrs Handley, I do see you around and you don't (honestly) look a day older, you look younger if anything. Then of course last but by no means least Mr Luxton, although I have seen him lately. I will probably find him still one of the few teachers who can make me laugh out loud! Thanks for being there for me. I do miss the school loads and I expect all my brothers and sister enjoyed being part of your school too.
p.s. I would love it if I hear back from anyone. (obviously you don't have to)

Hi i think this website is a brilliant idea as it will encourage more pupils at a younger age to use the internet, and maybe have a bit of an insight into what they can do on it. i.e. learn etc..
I, myself went to this school quite a few years ago now but I'm glad to hear that the school is getting more developed as the years go on. Blimey I'm starting to feel old now! Thanks

A useful tool for keeping an eye on what is going on at school. It would be helpful to have next years term dates added to the calendar.

A very good website, but you say that the theme for this years spring fair is America, we had a letter from school the other day telling us that it was going to be based on the Jubilee. Could we eventually have some sort of homework link i.e. Spellings, maths etc., which could possibly be done at home and then marked in school?

Congratulations on a very professional web-site! I taught at the school between 1979 and 1984 and looking at your site really made me want to come back and visit the school again - it looks and sounds like a wonderful place to learn!

Superb website - congratulations.
We love the photos, and the calendar is very useful.
You'll be doing online parent/teacher interviews before we know it, and how about a virtual sports day this year!
