MINEHEAD FIRST SCHOOL

SPRING FAYRE

On Saturday, 17th May, Minehead First School will be having a Spring Fayre.  Our theme this year is Carnival.  There are different activities.  There's cookery, hat design, a carnival poster and other activities.  We are selling toys, books, plants and bottles.  We are asking if you can bring in something for us to use.

(Year 3 children designed these carnival costumes.)

Yesterday my dog Poppy died.  She was very old.  I liked taking her for walks.

AT BROWNIES

At Brownies we are designing a poster to do with Minehead in Bloom because we enter this competition every year.  The theme for this year is 'Growing for Gold' and a 'Sunflower'.  The main colours are gold, silver and purple and any other colour you need.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE

Every Monday I go up to Bridgwater to train with Plymouth Argyle Football Club and I have already got some very good news - I have been asked to stay!

I have played two teams Bristol Rovers and Bristol City.  Against Bristol Rovers we drew 1-1.  In the second game against Bristol City we lost 5-4 and now I am very proud of myself.

NEW NEWS

(Mrs. Harrison)

Something she enjoys doing is teaching swimming.  Swimming started this Monday.  Her class are learning about whales and the sound they make they are listening to tapes of whale sounds.  They have been looking at paintings by Lowry.  A while ago they made Lowry pictures out of clay.  They are looking at paintings of sunflowers by Van Gogh.  Mrs. Harrison doesn't really like them she prefers paintings of his bedroom.

THE VIEW

I think this view of our school from the field is great.

You can see Butlins, our main playground and the two little playrooms.  This photo was taken on 14th May, 2003.

SPRING FAYRE

On Saturday 17th May there is a Spring Fayre and we still need lots of helpers so please help if it is only for an hour, that is fine.  Also all the people who haven't sold their raffle tickets bring them back as soon as possible!

We still need lots more full bottles.  If we don't get some more we will not have enough bottles for the bottle stall.  Also, if you have any old toys books etc.,

PLEASE BRING THEM IN!!!

BIKEATHON

This weekend in Minehead it was the Bikeathon.  I go cycling up Alcombe Combe during the holiday.  I also like to go cycling up North Hill to the tank run in Moretown Wood.

I went to a party at Allerford and had my tea.  I went on the Bouncy Castle.  I saw Millie and Harvey.  I got my horse hat at Porlock and some food for tea.  I have made a model of a head-dress and six iced cakes.  I will be going to the Spring Fayre with my mummy and Sam.  My friends Michael and Matthew will be going too.  I want to go on the tractor.

At Charterhouse I found lots of fossils.  My favourite one has lots of little rings and other bits of fossil.

Michael took a photo of a fossil he found.

CHARTERHOUSE IN THE PAST

(Mr Luxton told me about when he visited Charterhouse.)

It was wet and there was a flood in the boys toilet.  He couldn't get to sleep because everyone else in the chalet was talking.  We went in April but Mr. Luxton went in June.  He remembers talking about cavemen and what it would have been like to be one and how they lived.  It was a happy time.  He liked playing football and other games.

OUR SCHOOL

This is a picture of our school.

Mr. Riley, our headmaster, used to work in this part of the school.  Our school has at least 12 teachers.  Also it has at least 12 classrooms.  We have about 320 children in this school as well.  In our computer room we have 16 computers with one server and a T.V. screen on which you can show what you are doing.
