The Aztecs

Year 4 are learning about the Aztecs.  On Monday and Friday they are making their Aztec masks.  They are using P.V.A. glue and newspaper to stick onto a balloon to get the shape.  Then after the holiday they have to pop the balloon and paint the mask.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics is fun but sometimes it can be

a bit hard.  It is to strengthen your muscles.  When you are doing it you can get  a bit tired but all you've got to do try your best.  That's the spirit!

FILMS

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"

It is an outstanding film.  The stunts are amazing.  I think it is one of the best films this year.  A video for the family.  Your kids will love it.  It has giant spiders and a massive snake.

The characters are Harry Potter, Ron, Hermionie and other wizards.

On Saturday I go swimming at Aquasplash and I really enjoy it.  A lady called Hillary helps me.  I wear ear plugs to keep my ears dry.  I spend the rest of the day at Granny and Grandads.  We play games, read, do colouring and watch T.V.

P.E.

In P.E. we are doing tennis.  We have learned how to do a volley and a backhand.  I'm very good at doing a volley but not so good at doing a backhand.  Our tennis teacher is Mrs. Kay.  She's a very good tennis player as well.

SCIENCE

In science we are learning about light.  What is light?  How was light made?  Nobody knows.  We were learning about shadows in our last science class.  It was great fun.  Mrs. Passmore (our assistant teacher) had a big light and shone it on a piece of paper.  Table by table the children in our class had a drawing of their shadow.

Working at Minehead First School

"It is a very satisfying job and it is nice to make friends with the children" said Mrs. Lothian (one of the school Dinner Ladies).

Mrs. Kay (also one of the Dinner Ladies) says that she loves children and she loves working at this school.

Mrs. Child (another one of the school Dinner Ladies) says that she likes working here but not when she has to raise her voice at naughty children.
