Mineheadbeach

Minehead Beach is a lively and friendly place. It has lovely golden sand and big grey rocks. It has a large harbour with lots of fishing boats. Minehead attracts loads of people because of its view over to Wales. There are loads of Seagulls and Oyster Catchers. The sea splashes lots of seaweed onto the beach. In the summer it attracts lots of tourists. You are allowed to walk your dogs from the end of September to the end of March.
The beach recently underwent several changes. These included the new sand and groynes. Also, a new sea wall was built from the harbour to the golf course, which is much higher than the original wall. This is to try to prevent flooding at high tides. There is a harbour, with lots of big fishing boats in, at the North Hill end of the beach. At the opposite end there is a golf course.
In between, you come across Jubilee Gardens and cafe. Then there are lots of Gift Shops, Amusement Arcades and Restaurants. And, of course, Butlins, which dominates the skyline.
The beach itself, is covered in lovely golden sand, with quite a few stony groynes going down to the sea. These are supposed to stop the sand escaping into the sea. You are allowed to walk your dogs on the beach, from September to April every year.
On clear days you can enjoy sitting on the promenade, on the new seats provided, and look across to the Welsh coastline.
